Oklahoma City's economy is taking another hit this month.

Sales tax revenue is down 5.8-percent from September 2015, that's a million-dollar drop.

Sales tax revenue has been down 11 out of the last 12 months compared to last year’s total.

Sales tax is Oklahoma City's largest source of revenue bringing in roughly $400 million a year.

That money pays for firefighters, police and other city services.

“It’s definitely surprising to us how far its pulled back,” said OKC Budget Director Doug Dowler.

Now city leaders are looking at ways to cut spending.

Dowler said it’s too early to determine what kind of cuts could come.

The last time the city made mid-year budget cuts was in 2010 when OKC had a recession.
