Woman Survives More Than 50 Bullets Fired, OCPD Search For Shooter

Oklahoma City Police are searching for whoever is responsible for firing more than 50 shots at a metro woman, in what could've been a random act of violence.

Police said the gang unit and drive by team are working closely on this case, trying to figure out why the shooter would target people leaving a legitimate business, doing nothing criminal in nature.

The black Chevy Malibu was covered in bullet holes and evidence markers. And the woman behind the wheel of the car that night survived the shots fired at her from an AR-15.

Understandably, she did not want to show her face.

“They was [sic] trying to kill me. That’s 54 shots – nonstop,” she said.

Just after midnight Sunday, the woman was following her son with her flashers on from a garage near NE 36th and Westminster Road, where he works. And all at once and without any warning signs, she said gunfire erupted.

“It sounded like firecrackers were hitting,” she said.

She felt three bullets pierce her shoulder and another fly past her face.

“Then I realized that – oh my gosh – I have been shot. I’ve actually been shot,” she told News 9.

She said they tried to get away, but as she sped up her driver side tire was shot flat and forced her off the road.

“I guess when they seen [sic] us get out of the car, they started shooting again,” she explained.

In all, she was hit by seven bullets before they finally escaped the shooter and her son rushed her to the hospital.

“I knew I was losing a lot of blood and I was just really scared.”

Now she's home with a long road ahead to recovery, hoping to find some answers after this horrific ordeal.

“Was it me slowing down and throwing on my hazards? Did that upset them? I don’t know. Did they think I was somebody else? I mean, why?” She asked.
