Two suspects who led police on a high-speed pursuit are in custody.

According to police, the chase started after the suspects, identified as 51-year-old David M. Walker and 18-year-old Anthony I. Vazquez, attempted to cash a forged check at a Norman bank in the 300 block of 12th Ave. SE. Authorities say Walker was also driving a stolen vehicle.

Both Walker and Vazquez fled from the bank and took off onto southbound I-35. The chase wound through parts of Norman, into Purcell where the suspects got off I-35 and on to State Highway 74, then on toward Maysville.

The suspects attempted to ditch the vehicle in a field just south of the Washita River Bridge. Both then bailed out and tried to flee on foot, but were soon apprehended.

Police said Walker will be booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of uttering a forged instrument, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, felony eluding a police officer, and driving with a suspended driver's license. Walker also had multiple outstanding felony warrants.

Vazquez will be booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on a complaint of uttering as forged instrument.

OHP units, Norman and Purcell Police officers were all involved in the pursuit.
