OSU Football: Cowboys Open Fall Camp, Gundy's Hair Continues To Steal The Show

Oklahoma State held its first preseason practice today with coaches and players hitting the practice facility turf with helmets and jerseys but no pads.

Stanford grad transfer Barry J. Sanders looked spry. Chad Whitener led the linebackers through several agility drills. And Mason Rudolph might have thrown a few deep passes longer than the head coach’s ever-evolving haircut.

That’s right, Mike Gundy’s mullet was out in all its glory.

But back to serious football matters.

Gundy praised the team for its readiness and said his players look ahead of where he expected them to be entering camp.

“In just watching from a distance, it looks like we’re a week or two ahead of where we’ve been the last two or three years in preseason camp,” Gundy said. “Which is a credit to the players, they’ve reported with a good attitude so it’s a fun time of year for all of us, especially me, to be able to watch our guys and see them in practice continue to work to get better.”

He also singled out a few of the players who had a good first practice: Mason Rudolph, Jordan Sterns, Ashton Lampkin and Mote Maile. Gundy also mentioned a few newcomers too.

“I thought Tralund Webber ran around pretty well, Wudtee threw the ball well. So there’ll be a number of young guys pop up over the next couple weeks. The third week in August we’ll start to make some decisions on incoming players and whether we’re gonna play them as freshmen or redshirt them.”

Okay, one last look at the direction HBCMG’s hair is trending.
