The family of a Midwest City man who disappeared last Christmas Eve says their pain has been compounded by something they don’t understand.

Don McEntire, 55, was Arron Tindell’s best friend.

Tindell said police found McEntires’ skeletal remains just west of Lake Stanley Draper on March 22. Oklahoma City Police told him they also found McEntire’s I.D. in a tattered wallet, and what appeared to be what was left of the clothes he was wearing when his twin brother Ron last saw him the morning of December 24.

Tindell said police also found a handgun at the scene, which he says all make very clear his friend committed suicide. He said McEntire was depressed at the time of his death, and said something cryptic to his brother before he disappeared.

Tindell said McEntire’s family is upset with the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, because they haven’t issued a death certificate yet. He said the family needs that in order to get Don McEntire’s financial affairs in order.

“We feel like we been kicked in the gut and we just need a little help from the state to get this resolved,” said Tindell. “And I know they can do it.”

Tindell said the Medical Examiner’s Office told the family last week that it would be at least another five months, until DNA tests come back.

News 9 reached out to the Medical Examiner’s Office Thursday afternoon, and have not heard back.  News 9 has reported extensively in the past, that there has been an ongoing backlog of cases at the Medical Examiner’s Office.
