Former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating says is not endorsing Oklahoma County Clerk Carolyn Caudill in her re-election bid, despite a recent campaign postcard sent out by Caudill’s camp, claiming he had.

The postcard in question features a picture of Keating with the following message:

“This Tuesday – June 28th – You have the opportunity to keep County Clerk Carolyn Caudill on the job.  I urge you to get out and vote for her in this Republican Primary!  Frank Keating, Former Oklahoma Governor.”

Keating issued a press release on Thursday, refuting the endorsement and suggesting he in fact will endorse Caudill’s opponent, David B. Hooten. Hooten has also been endorsed by Gov. Mary Fallin.

“I am disappointed that Caudill has misrepresented my role in her race. I had endorsed Caudill in past elections.  But in a conversation between the two of us earlier this year, I told Caudill that I would not be endorsing her in this election,” Keating stated in the release. “David Hooten is a good man and a good friend, and I could not oppose him.”

News 9 has reached out to Caudill’s office for comment, but so far we have not received a response.
