An Oklahoma City police officer was attacked overnight after being dispatched to check on a broken-down vehicle.

According to police, the officer was inspecting the vehicle on the on-ramp at Sooner Rd. and I-35 when he made contact with the driver of the vehicle shortly after midnight.

During the investigation, police said the officer attempted to detain the driver, later identified as 27-year-old Lashauna Denise Hendricks, for an unknown reason. That's when she resisted and assaulted the officer, including biting him.

Following the struggle, police said Hendricks was taken to the hospital to be checked out. After being cleared by medical staff, Hendricks was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple complaints, including possession of CDS, assault and battery on a police officer, interfering with official process and public intoxication.

The officer suffered minor injuries.
