Red Raiders Keep Rolling: Cowboys Fall To Texas Tech Inside GIA

Despite a hard fought effort in front of its home crowd, Oklahoma State fell 71-61 to a red-hot Texas Tech team on Saturday night and are now 12-15 on the season.

The Red Raiders have now won four straight games and put themselves in good position to get in the NCAA Tournament.

At halftime the two schools were deadlocked at 29-29, but the Red Raiders came out of halftime in a solid rhythm. Texas Tech began the half on a 13-to-4 run to get up 42-33, but the Cowboys weren’t going to just roll over.

Led by Jeff Newberry and Tavarius Shine, the Pokes were able to get back within 42-41 with 14:40 left in the game. Unfortunately for Oklahoma State, the close contest only made the Red Raiders push the gas pedal even more and Tubby Smith’s squad was able to get its lead back up to double-digits before the final stretch.

The Cowboys had one last push in them and got within six points, but Texas Tech’s Aaron Ross squashed any hope of a comeback by converting an and-1 layup and making the free-throw to get their lead back up by nine and never looking back.

Newberry led the Cowboys in scoring with 16 while Leyton Hammonds added 15 of his own.

Oklahoma State will be back in action on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. when they travel to Norman for Bedlam.
