Hield's 30 Points Lead No. 1 Sooners Past Red Raiders

Buddy Hield scored 30 points to help No. 1 Oklahoma defeat Texas Tech 91-67 on Tuesday night.

Hield, the nation's No. 2 scorer, made 9 of 12 shots, including 5 of 8 3-point attempts, and 7 of 8 free throws. It was his seventh game with 30 or more points this season.

Isaiah Cousins scored 19 points, Jordan Woodard added 15 and Khadeem Lattinhad a career-high eight blocks for the Sooners (17-2, 6-2 Big 12), who remained in first place in the conference.

Oklahoma, which leads the nation in 3-point percentage, made 12 of 23 from beyond the arc and shot 53 percent overall.

Oklahoma was equally impressive on defense. The Sooners matched a school record with 14 blocked shots and held Texas Tech (12-7, 2-6) to 32 percent shooting.

Justin Gray scored 20 points, Devaugntah Williams had 12 and Matthew Temple added 11 for Texas Tech.

Oklahoma led 17-13 before Hield hit two 3-pointers during an 8-0 run to push the lead to 25-13.

The Sooners led 49-39 at halftime. Hield had 16 points, Woodard scored 13 and Lattin had six blocks at the break. The Sooners made 8 of 12 3-point attempts and shot 58 percent from the field in the first half.

Gray scored 12 points in the first half to help the Red Raiders stay in it.

The Sooners started to pull away early in the second half. They led 51-42 when Hield hit a jumper, sparking a 13-5 run that put the Sooners up 64-47 and in control for good.
