Posted: Updated:
LINCOLN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

An inmate who escaped from the Lincoln County Jail Thursday morning is back in custody, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's office.

At about 8:30 a.m., Robert Snelson escaped from custody at the Lincoln County Jail. He was then seen in the area of 8th and Blaine behind the Presbyterian Church, the Sheriff's office reported.

Snelson was wearing a dark grey/blue tee shirt with white and yellow lettering and blue jeans. He was also barefoot. He stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has dark sandy blonde hair that is close cut.

Residents in the area of his escape were asked to stay inside and lock their doors during the search. Snelson was found just after 11:30 a.m.

All Lincoln County schools were notified about the missing inmate. The Sheriff's office asked for Chandler schools to be placed on lockdown because the search was only being conducted in Chandler. Authorities said Wellston schools may have gone on lockdown voluntarily.
