OSU Baseball: Sluder Named Preseason All-American

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma State outfielder Ryan Sluder has been named a 2016 Preseason All-American by Perfect Game.

A junior for the Cowboys, Sluder was named to the Perfect Game Preseason All-American Third Team. The PG All-American teams consist of 17 players each and are selected based on a balance of past performance, 2016 expectations and prospective talent relative to the Major League Baseball Draft.

Sluder enjoyed a breakout sophomore season for coach Josh Holliday’s Cowboys in 2015 as he ranked second on the team with a .309 batting average while leading the club with 14 doubles and six home runs. The Amarillo, Texas native caught fire in Big 12 Conference play, leading the league with a .403 batting average and .710 slugging percentage in Big 12-only games. Five of his six home runs and 10 of his 22 RBIs on the season came in conference play, and he earned All-Big 12 Second Team accolades.

A 6-foot-2, 200 pounder, Sluder split the majority of his time between center field and left field and recorded 10 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games last season while also posting the longest hitting streak by a Cowboy on the season, one that stretched 14 games.
