OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police are on the lookout for a pair of burglars caught on camera stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of tools, equipment and supplies from a building being renovated in the Uptown 23rd District of Oklahoma City.

The crime occurred just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, at the renovation project going on at the old Tower Theater located at NW 23rd and Walker.

According to the report, the crooks got inside of the building through a backdoor in the alleyway. The contractor foreman told police the door had not yet been installed, and the only thing keeping the burglars out were two pieces of plywood re-enforced with two-by-fours.

Once inside the building the burglars began to grab large job boxes full of tools. They then made off with spools of copper wire, lighting and ladders. Damage was also done at the site, from the burglars attempting to get more wire out from electrical conduits.

Some of the equipment was found piled up in the alley, indicating the burglars ran out of room in their getaway vehicle.

All of the stolen tools belonged to the electrical contractor for the site. A total cost for all the stolen materials has not yet been determined, but the electrical contractor told police the tools alone cost an estimated $10,000.

If you recognize either of the burglars, or have any information that could lead police to an arrest, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tips can also be submitted online at www.okccrimetips.com.
