OKLAHOMA CITY -

While many are racing around picking up last minute Christmas gifts, others are feeling fortunate to even have presents under the tree.

The City Rescue Mission is doing its part by helping to make sure homeless families have something to look forward to.

This is the Christmas Wish Store's seventh year, and it's for people inside the City Rescue Mission who may not be able to afford presents for their children. So instead, they are able to come in shop and find the perfect gift for their kiddo.

There are no long lines or pushy customers fighting through crowds.

But inside this store, shelves are filled with the latest toys waiting to be played with.

“It's a really big blessing. If it wasn't for this program, I am not sure where I would be right now. Last year, Christmas was not good,” said Holli Tull, a shopper.

Tull just completed City Rescue Mission's rehabilitation program. A new year will give her another chance for a clean life.

And the Christmas Wish Store will help put presents under the tree for her children.

“It was a little overwhelming, but it's really heartwarming how much people do donate and how generous they are. It really help ease a lot of stress,” she said.

“We want to create an experience for the kids so they know they are not forgotten,” said Adam Jones, City Rescue Mission executive assistant.

Jones said the store helps restore some normalcy back to the children and their family's lives.

“We want it to be sustainable for the parents so whenever they leave here, like Holli, she can maintain that three, four gift situation for her kids,” he said.

Volunteers put the final touches, wrapping the gifts to be opened Christmas morning.

The City Rescue Mission is still accepting gift donations. The Christmas Wish Store remains open until Christmas.
