GAMEDAY PREVIEW: Thunder Host Jazz On Sunset Sunday

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Here we go again! Oklahoma City is back in action tonight against none other than the Utah Jazz. This the third time in 20 days, and the second time in three days these teams have squared off, so don’t be surprised if you see two testy teams that are tired of facing each other.

Here are a couple of things to know about tonight’s 6 p.m. matchup:

Will the streak continue?

Oklahoma is thriving as of late, and rides a four game winning streak into tonight’s contest. The Thunder are scoring plenty, but the success has truly stemmed from the defensive end of the court. Oklahoma City has held its opponent to less than 100 points in 8 of its last nine games.

The only time the Thunder let a team score more than the century was in a loss to the Hawks on November 30, but Big Blue was able to avenge the poor performance with a lock down defensive effort on December 10, when the Thunder held Atlanta to only 94 points while winning the game by double-digits.

Has Durant cooled down?

Kevin Durant scored the Thunder’s last 11 points in his team’s 94-90 win on Friday night over Utah. Oklahoma City gave up a 12-point lead late in the game, but OKC’s superstar took matters into his own hands in the final minutes to sure up the win for the Thunder.  His performance was proof to the world that despite his injury setbacks last season, Durant has not lost his “clutch-gene” that he often flashed on a nightly basis in the past.
