Oklahoma Firefighters Busy Responding To Multiple Grass Fires

Posted: Updated:
Woodward, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma firefighters had a busy day responding to multiple grass fires across the state.

Firefighters were called out to the area near State Highway 34, north of the town of Sharon and about six miles south of Woodward. At about 11:43 a.m., OHP shut down US 34 while crews battle the blaze.

The highway reopened at about 1 p.m.

The fire does not appear to be a threat to any structures, as it is located in a very rural area. The cause has not yet been determined.

Firefighters are also working to contain a grass fire just east of Luther in Lincoln County. Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD flew over the scene. Pilot Jim Gardner reported that this grass fire started when someone was burning a trash pile.

Then around 2:30 p.m., fire crews in Pottawatomie County were called out to douse a grass fire that flared up near State Highway 102.

Just after 4 p.m. fire crews were called to fight a small grass fire near SE 89th St. and S. Sunnylane Rd. That fire started in a field near a salavge yard.
