We see them every day in the metro -- people standing on the side of the road asking for money and help. While many are legitimate, some aren't.

A Wisconsin panhandler admits he gets money from passers-by under false pretenses and he admitted it to a police officer.

"Yesterday I made $250 with a 'hopeless dad' sign. Honestly, I don't have a kid, but people do like to help out," the panhandler said.

The officer recorded the discussion on her body camera after she asked if the man needs assistance. He responded, "No thanks," and then gave his confession.

The man actually shows the officers several signs he rotates in-and-out at busy intersections. One even says he is broke and hungry.

Turns out, there is nothing this officer can do about it because it's all legal. The worst part? He believes he's helping you by taking your money.

Here in Oklahoma, The Homeless Alliance suggests you give out vouchers they have made instead of cash. The books have a map, information about shelters and a bus ticket to get there. They cost $5 for a book of five.
