Child Critically Injured After Being Struck By SUV In Norman

NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Norman Police say a child attempting to cross a roadway was struck late Friday afternoon.

The incident took place just before 4:30 p.m., when authorities say a child, approximately 12, exited a school bus and was hit by an SUV while attempting to cross the street in the area of Bishops Drive and Chamberlyne Way.

The child suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The occupants of the SUV were not injured.

Norman Police say at this time the incident is still under investigation.

The names of those involved have not been released.

A part of Bishops Drive and Chamberlyne Way will be closed while investigators on at the scene.
