OKLAHOMA CITY -

A state Senator's wife made serious allegations against the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, after she was arrested over the weekend.

Summer Sullins Loveless, 38, was arrested by Oklahoma City police for obstructing an officer, driving under suspension, and following too closely. Once released, she proceeded to write a rant about her experience on Facebook.

In her post, Loveless states she was held in the Oklahoma County jail for more than 10 hours without access to water and was cussed and screamed at by Oklahoma County deputies. She also claims she was psychologically and sexually abused.

According to the police report, the officer noticed Loveless driving her gray Jeep onto Interstate 44 from Northwest Expressway at a high rate of speed.

He then noticed her changing lanes erratically and following cars too closely.

“The officer felt that this erratic behavior was a little bit dangerous driving in that manner, so he went ahead and tried to pull the vehicle over,” Oklahoma City police Capt. Paco Balderrama said.

Once the officer engaged his lights, the officer said Loveless threw up her hands and continued driving for about a mile before finally pulling over in the Lowe's parking lot.

The report states when the officer came up on the car, Loveless was texting on her phone and kept her windows rolled up, even signaling for the officer to wait until she was done.

Once the officer got her license, he discovered it was suspended and proceeded to arrest Loveless.

During the arrest, Loveless told the officer he was the same officer who had arrested her husband, Sen. Kyle Loveless, back in 2011 for a similar offense. He was not a Senator at the time

Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetzel released a statement:

It has been brought to our attention that the wife of an Oklahoma state Senator, arrested by Oklahoma City police and brought to the Oklahoma County jail, has made allegation on social media of mistreatment and sexual assault while in our custody. Summer Loveless was booked into the jail on October 4. She spent approximately 20 hours in the facility before her release on bond. We have been reviewing video of her interaction with staff and while in a holding area. The video does not show any mistreatment of Mrs. Loveless by our staff or anyone else in the jail. Throughout the night, video evidence shows on multiple occasions, she was provided water and bathroom breaks. We believe Mrs. Loveless’ allegation of being sexually assaulted stems from her being patted down by a female officer, which is also on video. We find the pat down was appropriately conducted by the female officer and in accordance with policy. As for the allegation her husband, Senator Kyle Loveless, was lied to when he called asking about a time to bond her out, we have no information with whom he may have talked to about this issue. Mrs. Loveless was booked on an Oklahoma City charge and would thus need to contact the arresting agency (OCPD) to arrange bond.

“Based on her Facebook complaint, we have opened up an investigation. We have been and will be in contact with the district attorney’s office during the investigation. We provided their office with a copy of all video that pertained to Mrs. Loveless’ time in the jail and will provide them a completed copy of our investigation.

Kyle Loveless released a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying:

"Summer and I both regret this incident. We both have deep respect for Oklahoma's law enforcement and the tough job they have, and we know no one, not even a state Senator or his family, is above the law. Summer vented on her personal Facebook page but then deleted the post soon after. We recently had our second child and, like many new mothers, my wife is battling postpartum depression. She is sorry for the incident and has been seeking treatment. This is been a difficult time for both of us but it will not affect my work on the much more important issues facing Oklahoma."
