Six teachers and administrators in the Wilson school district are undergoing security guard training that will allow them to carry a firearm in their schools.  It's a district by district call under a new state law, and I agree with it.

Here's what you had to say:

Aaron first, "As a teacher in a more rural school, I've offered to go through whatever training is necessary. I agree that each district should decide for themselves.”

Kenneth disagrees, "Arming public school teachers and faculty is an indictment of the failure of our society, philosophy of education, and our public institutions."

Fine, Kenneth but you didn't offer any alternatives.

Cherokee from Cheyenne writes, "I don't feel it's a wise decision to arm teachers and/or school staff. People can go off at the drop of a dime."

Daniel says, "If someone is properly trained, licensed and found to be of sound mind, then yes, they should be allowed to carry! Our children should never be denied additional protection!"

David writes, "Bad idea. They should be hiring trained people, preferably police officers to provide security at schools."

That's the best solution, David, but how would you pay for it in every school?

Finally, from Richard, "I think it’s a Brave and smart idea! it shows their willingness to educate and protect the children just like their parents should do at home!"

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's Your 2 Cents.
