Oklahoma State (2-0) defeated Central Arkansas (0-2), 32-8, on Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium. Here’s an instant analysis, stick around for a full recap.

What went well

For the second straight game, OSU’s defense held down the fort until the offense woke up. The Cowboys held Central Arkansas to eight points and just 220 total yards. In addition, kicker Ben Grogan had a nice bounce-back performance by drilling both of his field goal attempts. Yeah, he had an extra point blocked, but it's hard to say whether that was Grogan's fault or the offensive line's.

What didn’t

The biggest concern entering the game was OSU’s offense line, and for good reason. Many folks anticipated a more dominant showing at Central Michigan and certainly on Saturday against UCA, but once again, OSU struggled to establish anything on the ground. The Pokes ran for just 164 yards on 35 carries against a middle-tier FCS team. You can beat Central Arkansas doing that, but it will need to improve before league play starts.

Game ball

Mason Rudolph could certainly get the nod here, but let’s give it to David Glidden. The 5-foot-8 senior caught three passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He was the only Cowboy to outscore Central Arkansas by himself.

What’s next

OSU hosts UTSA next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. It will be the Cowboys’ final chance to figure out that run game before going to Austin on Sept. 26.
