Two traffic fatalities a week ago in east Norman have police stepping up enforcement on the roads leading into and out of Lake Thunderbird.
Lt. Clay Bolin said it’s just a safety precaution, because he expects lake traffic to be heavy Sunday and Monday.
“Drivers just speed like they were on the interstate when they’re on these roads,” he said.
Bolin’s officers pulled over two vehicles right after they began their patrol Sunday afternoon.
One motorist was speeding on Highway 9, the other had crossed the center lane several times.
However, both motorists were given warnings and allowed to continue on their way.
