A judge cuts a million dollar bond in half Friday for a now former Valley Brook police officer, but her attorney says that's not enough.

She's still in jail Friday night, accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Courtney Schlinke's defense team wanted that $1.1 million bond reduced to $25,000.

State prosecutors convinced the judge that request wasn't going to work.

Schlinke walked out of her bond hearing, tight-lipped.

“For most people, it’s a bond that’s out of reach. For all practical purposes, unless something happens she is basically being held without bond because her family does not have the financial resources to make that bond,” said Schlinke’s attorney, David McKenzie.

And McKenzie says Schlinke's family believes she's being falsely accused.

“I’m dealing with accusations without witnesses, and without proof,” said McKenzie.

Schlinke was working as a Valley Brook Police Officer at the time of the child sex allegations, but resigned in July for unrelated reasons.

She’s a psychopath, she’s evil, she’s a predator,” said Jeannie England.

News 9 recently sat down with the 14-year-old alleged victim's grandmother, Jeannie England.

“I believe Courtney was taking advantage of my 14-year-old granddaughter sexually,” said England.

Jeanne says the relationship between her granddaughter and Schlinke lasted nearly a year before she found evidence to confirm her suspicions.

She says it was two sisters fighting against each other for the attention of Schlinke. Both are her granddaughters. But one of the siblings is 14.

“Everybody is just so ashamed and shocked,” said England.

Investigators monitored Schlinke's activity for a month. She's now charged with 38 complaints including rape, oral sodomy, and lewd acts with a child under 16.

She's also accused of burglary.

She came out here and broke the window out of my truck, and she did a home invasion on the girls’ dad’s house,” said England.

Jeanne says her granddaughter has suffered a mental breakdown and is getting treatment.

Schlinke will remain in jail on a $500,000 bond. If bond is met, she must remain under house arrest with a GPS monitor and have no contact with the victim.
