TRAFFIC ALERT: Buckled Roadway Closes Two Lanes Of NB I-44 In SW OKC

Crews have had to close two lanes of traffic on the northbound side of Interstate 44 in southwest Oklahoma City due to the asphalt buckling on the highway.

Traffic is backed up for miles in the area on northbound I-44, in between SW 15th St. and SW 29th St., while road crews work to fix the issue.

It is unclear if the buckled roadway caused any crashes at this time. Authorities say the lanes will remain closed until 6 a.m. on Thursday.

News 9 is told ODOT crews have been working on resurfacing this area for some time.
