You'll notice lower prices at gas stations across the Oklahoma City metro. While it's a welcome sign for some drivers, others are not so happy to see prices drop.

Wednesday morning near N.W. 63rd and NW Expressway, there are several gas stations advertising regular gas at or below the $2 mark. We watched as drivers took advantage of those prices overnight.

According to AAA Oklahoma, prices are at their lowest level since 2009, and no surprise, Oklahoma has some of the lowest prices in the country. The state average is $2.48, compared to the national average of $2.64.

While some are celebrating the savings, many in the state of Oklahoma get nervous when the price of gas goes down as it can reflect how well oil and natural gas operations are doing.

According to a new Oklahoma State University forecast, the state may lose more than 20,000 jobs due to energy price volatility through 2016. There have already been 8,400 jobs eliminated in the mining sector.

If oil and natural gas operations struggle in our state it could have a snowball effect. OSU said every 10 energy jobs out there support six positions in other industries outside of the energy sector.
