A 72-year-old woman was held hostage inside her home by a stranger. Now, that suspect is locked up but not before investigators caught a strange scene on camera.
It happened just outside Ada about 5:00 a.m., when all of sudden a man flew through the woman's living room window.
“My hands are right here,” the suspect said in cell phone video captured by a deputy. “My hands are up.”
His hands are up now, but not long before they were holding a 72-year-old woman hostage inside her own home.
Deputies said Tiner Day dove head first through the woman's front window to get inside.
According to the report, the woman ran to her bedroom and locked the door. She told authorities she pointed a gun at the door but couldn't pull the trigger. That's when Day "kicked down the door" and "knocked the firearm out the woman's hands" and held her down by the neck. The woman then began telling Day about her grandchild and somehow convinced him to let her go.
That's when she called 911.
Dispatch: “Ada 911. Where’s your emergency?
Victim: “I have a crazy man that’s in my house. He’s tearing my house apart.”
Dispatch: Is he still in the house?”
Victim: “Yes, he is. He’s in the bedroom. Please help me. I’ve got to get out of the house.”
Deputies soon arrived.
“They entered and found the intruder, Tiner Day, in that bedroom lying in the floor, covered in blood,” Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian said. “He was cut head to toe where he basically jumped through the window.”
Meanwhile, the woman ran down the road for help as Day ransacked her home before he was taken into custody.
Day is facing several charges and is in the Pontotoc County Jail.
