As we head into the holiday weekend we’ll continue with the heat and humidity and a chance of a few pop up storms. The good news is they’ll be hit and miss with most areas staying dry Friday evening through the weekend.

Friday, we’ll see some clouds around with a few pop up storms through the evening. The best chances of seeing a heavy downpour with some lightning will be across southern parts of the state.  Here in OKC we’re looking at around a 20% of a pop up storm under muggy and warm temperatures. Overnight the clouds will clear out some with temperatures falling down into the upper 60s.

For our 4th of July, a mix of sun & clouds much like our Friday with a slight chance of a pop up thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s with the heat index in the upper 90s. Winds won’t bring much relief as they’ll be light out of the south from 5-15mph. UV index over the weekend will be in the very high category so please apply the sunscreen and wear the shades.

On Sunday, don’t expect much of a change as we’ll see plenty of sunshine & highs in the low 90s with a very small chance of a storm.

Changes do arrive early next week and it’ll be a very welcome change for many as we’re talking about some cooler temperatures on the way.

On Monday, we’ll continue with the heat & humidity with highs in the 90s under a gusty south wind. By the evening a cold front slides in from the north producing some strong thunderstorms into Monday night.

On Tuesday, the north winds take over behind the cold front as skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Rain chances look to decrease through the day as daytime highs will only reach the upper 70s to low 80s with lower humidity levels. So some welcome summer relief is on the way as we head into the second week of July.

Have a great holiday weekend!
