It was another hot day across the state with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 90s and heat indexes approaching the lower 100s.

Temperatures in the state will cool down Thursday evening, but probably not as quickly as you would like. We'll see mostly clear skies and a south breeze with temperatures in the low to mid-80s by 10 p.m.

Overnight, an area of showers and T-storms will move southeast out of Kansas into the Oklahoma panhandle and northwest Oklahoma. These will likely be weakening during the overnight, but a few heavy downpours with some thunder and lightning will be possible.

These storms are ahead of a cool front that will arrive across the state as we head through our Friday. By Friday evening the front will be across southern Oklahoma as more showers and T-storms will develop along this front with the daytime heating.

A few T-storms could be strong to severe, with some gusty winds and hail. Right now we're only expecting scattered storms, so not everyone will see rain Thursday night or Friday.

If you don't receive any rain don't worry, you'll feel the effects from the front as north winds take over Friday night. These winds will bring in slightly cooler air, but more importantly less humidity for the upcoming weekend. Highs over the weekend will be the 80s and near 90 on Sunday with plenty of sunshine.
