Police are looking to the public to help identify a couple accused of using a cloned credit card to purchase hundreds of dollars' worth of merchandise at several stores in northwest Oklahoma City in May.

The victim contacted police after she learned her card had been used to make several unauthorized purchases at stores in OKC. The victim told police she still had her debit card in her possession, but was out of state at the time the transactions were made. That led police to believe her card had been cloned.

Credit card cloning is nothing new. In fact, it is something that Oklahoma City police have been dealing with all year. Thieves usually get to unsuspecting victims by way of a “card skimmer”; a device that renders a copy of a person's credit card.

Oklahoma City Police investigators reached out to the stores where the thieves used the cloned card; a Lowe's home improvement store at 3801 N. May, Vapor Haven, located at 2903 NW 36th St., and two purchases at Best Buy located at 5801 N. May. In all, the thieves purchased nearly $3,000 in merchandise.

After checking into the purchases, a loss prevention employee with Best Buy was able to get police a good shot of the accused couple entering the store.

If you recognize the pair, or if have any information regarding their whereabouts, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (406) 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
