Police: OKC Attorney Acted In Self Defense When He Shot, Killed Attacker

Police said an Oklahoma City attorney acted in self defense when he shot and killed a client who attacked him Saturday evening. 

At about 6 p.m., officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 1100 block of N.W. 80th Street. David Smith, 54, had come over to the home of his attorney, 48-year-old Jay Silvernail, to pick up some property.

Police said Smith became upset at one point and began attacking Silvernail. That's when Silvernail shot Smith, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this point, police said it appears that Silvernail was acting in self defense. He was not arrested.
