OKC Firefighters To Begin Annual 'Fill The Boot' Campaign

Oklahoma City firefighters will begin their annual “Fill-the-Boot” campaign next week.

Firefighters will be collecting donations at busy intersections throughout Oklahoma City May 11-16, 2015. The funds raised will benefit research and local services for the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

During the department's 2014 campaign, firefighters raised over $293,000 for MDA.

OCFD Fire Station 6 will host a kick-off rally to officially announce the beginning of the campaign on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. MDA client families, MDA sponsors, Oklahoma City Fire Deputy Chief Marc Woodard, Firefighters, and Fire Union President Phil Sipe will be on hand to begin the campaign.

The Fill-the-Boot tradition began more than 50 years ago.
