What happened, or nearly happened last night in Garland, Texas needs to be a wake-up call to all of us.
That two radicalized Muslims traveled from Phoenix to Dallas intent on massacring people over cartoons, would have seemed preposterous just a couple of years ago.
I've heard people criticizing the group hosting the Mohammed cartoon exhibition, saying they were baiting extremists to come after them.
I'm not big on mocking other people's religions, but these people in Garland absolutely had the right to be there and to express themselves certainly without someone trying to shut them up by opening fire with assault rifles.
I fully expect that they will hold another provocative event of some type, because they are trying to illustrate the very threat we saw last night. But it also strikes me that it's very important to note that Muslim's weren't streaming into Dallas to try to shut this thing down, only a couple were motivated to retaliation, or at least to follow through on it.
Yes, they're out there, but they clearly don't represent Muslim Americans.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
