Oklahoma City police arrested a man who is accused of carrying a puppy by its throat, swinging it around, and throwing it on the ground.
According to police, at about 6:10 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the incident in the 4300 block of S. May. Officers said a large group of people was in the parking lot when they arrived, and the suspect, 25-year-old Scott Henry Reeves, was trying to walk away.
Multiple witnesses told police that Reeves held the puppy by its throat and swung it around. One witness said she saw Reeves “spike” the puppy on the ground like a football.
Another witness said he yelled for Reeves to stop, but Reeves replied, “It's my dog, I can do what I want.”
Reeves was arrested on a complaint of animal cruelty. He is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail on $2,000 bond.
Instead of going to the pound, the puppy was released to a witness who offered to take care of it, police said.
