OSBI agents arrested a former Latimer County Sheriff's Deputy Thursday morning for stealing drug evidence while working as a county deputy.

Former deputy Bobby Joe Eubanks was recently terminated by the Latimer County Sheriff. Eubanks was in charge of the department's drug evidence room.

The Latimer County Sheriff requested OSBI to investigate missing drug evidence. During a search of Eubanks' patrol vehicle, the sheriff found drug evidence and turned it over to the OSBI.

The OSBI determined the drugs were from a 2011 case and contained methamphetamine.

OSBI agents said Eubanks admitted to stealing drug evidence two times. He claimed he needed the meth to help him cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Eubanks had been deployed to Afghanistan while in the Army National Guard prior to working for the Latimer County Sheriff's Department.

Eubanks was taken into custody just before noon Thursday.
