Dodgers Close Homestand With Win

The Oklahoma City Dodgers closed out their season-opening homestand and four-game series with a 3-2 win Thursday against the Nashville Sounds at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Oklahoma City built a 3-0 lead before Nashville came back to score twice in the top of the ninth inning in front of a crowd of 4,188.

Thursday's victory gave the OKC Dodgers a 3-1 win in their series with the Sounds – their first series win against Nashville since June 27-30, 2013. The Sounds had won or split the previous five series with Oklahoma City.

OKC Dodgers starting pitcher Zach Lee (2-0) allowed four hits and struck out seven over 6.0 scoreless innings in the win. David Aardsma pitched the final out of the ninth inning for his second save of the season.

Four Dodgers pitchers combined to strike out 10 Nashville batters. Oklahoma City entered the game tied with Low-A Cedar Rapids for the most strikeouts in the Minor Leagues so far this season (80).

Oklahoma City (6-2) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Chris Heisey and Buck Britton hit back-to-back singles with one out. Heisey advanced to third on Britton's hit. Then with Scott Schebler batting, Britton stole second before Schebler drew a walk to load the bases.

A sacrifice fly from Matt Carson scored Heisey for a 1-0 OKC Dodgers advantage.

In the seventh inning, a RBI single from Darwin Barney put the OKC Dodgers in front, 2-0.

Oklahoma City took a 3-0 lead in the eighth on a home run from Kyle Jensen that hit off the top of the wall in left field. The homer was Jensen's first of the season and the sixth of 2015 for the Dodgers.

A two-run double from Nashville's Max Muncy cut the OKC Dodgers' lead to 3-2 with none out in the ninth.

OKC Dodgers reliever Sergio Santos got the next two batters to ground out and strike out before issuing a walk. Aardsma replaced Santos on the mound, and Andy Parrino flied out to left field for the final out of the game.

Nashville fell to 4-4 on the season. Starting pitcher Ryan Verdugo (1-1) was charged with the loss, allowing one run and four hits, walking one and striking out two over 3.1 innings.

The OKC Dodgers next head to Des Moines, Iowa for their first road trip of the season. They open a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs at 7:08 p.m. Friday at Principal Park.
