Metro firefighters extinguished a duplex fire in southeast Oklahoma City overnight.

A duplex erupted in flames on S.E. 46th near Sooner Road, near the Tinker Air Force Base. Several neighbors actually spotted the flames and called 911 shortly after midnight.

Firefighters on the scene reported seeing heavy flames. Crews told News 9 the fire started in one duplex, which was vacant, but spread to another duplex where six people lived.

Everyone did make it out safely. Firefighters said they had a hard time battling this one since there were a lot of flames. In fact, the roof collapsed on one building, causing both structures to not be livable.

Crews were able to put out the blaze before it spread to a third duplex.

The Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross will help those people find a place and stay and get back on their feet.

As of this morning, there is no word on a cause. Investigators will be on scene this morning.
