Police Helicopter Hits Bird, Forced To Make Emergency Landing

DALLAS, Texas -

A Dallas Police Department helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing overnight after hitting a bird. Police said they were on a mission to help a stranded boater at a nearby lake when the bird crashed into their windshield. 

The glass shattered on impact. The co-pilot was able to safely land the now convertible aircraft. 

The pilot was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor cuts to the face and arms.
