Oklahoma County deputies said they were able to identify and arrest a man who got away after leading deputies on a chase, because he left his ID in the car that he left behind.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, on Saturday, March 7, deputies began chasing a car that was seen swerving on Interstate 44 near N.W. 10th. Deputies said the driver was also blowing through stop signs at a high rate of speed.

The chase came to an end after the driver stopped, got out of the vehicle, and ran off. Authorities said there was an extensive search for the driver that included assistance from a K-9 officer and Oklahoma City police's helicopter. But the suspect was able to get away.

Deputies said they searched the vehicle that the suspect left behind, and found a flier with a family photo that included the suspect. The flier named the suspect as 48-year-old Michael Anthony Thursby. Deputies said they also found a work identification that belonged to Thursby.

On Friday, March 13, deputies went to Thursby's place of employment and spoke with him. Thursby admitted that he ran because he had a suspended driver's license.

Thursby was then booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of obstruction, aggravated eluding, and driving under suspension.

Thursby posted $4,000 bail and was released from jail on Saturday.
