Authorities were able to quickly arrest a man accused of beating and robbing another man in northwest Oklahoma City, with the help of a witness last Friday.

According to police, just after 7:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to the incident at N.W. 34th and N. MacArthur. A man called police to report a robbery in progress and he stayed on the phone with dispatchers during the entire incident.

According to the witness, the victim was using a leaf blower to clean the parking lot of Zodiac Club, when a man came up behind the victim and punched him twice in the head. The witness said the victim then fell to the ground, and the suspect stood over the top of the victim and used his foot to stomp the victim's head three times.

The victim was then knocked unconscious. That's when the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Marcus Dwight Carter Jr., stole the victim's wallet from his pocket, according to police.

The witness told police that Carter did not find any money in the wallet, so he threw away the wallet and took off running.

While on the phone, the witness gave authorities descriptions of the suspect. Police said Carter took off into the Warr Acres city limits, and officers there were able quickly locate a man matching the suspect descriptions. They caught up with Carter and took him into custody.

The witness positively identified Carter as the robbery suspect, police said.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The witness recovered the victim's wallet and returned it to him.

Carter was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple complaints, including a felony count of aggravated assault and battery and first-degree robbery. He is being held on $48,000 bond.
