A Jay man convicted of addressing a suspicious package to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

A federal judge in Arizona sentenced Gregory Shrader, 55, on Tuesday.

Shrader was convicted in September 2014 on charges of making a threat by means of explosive material, transporting explosive material, mailing an injurious item and possession of explosive materials by a felon.

Authorities say Shrader wasn't motivated by animosity toward Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and instead sent the package in hopes of framing his former partner in a financial trading books business.

Investigators say Shrader drove from Oklahoma to Arizona in April 2013 to put the bomb in a collection box in Flagstaff.
