LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Authorities said they are investigating a homicide after neighbors discovered a man beaten beyond recognition inside his home.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office arrived to the scene on Sunday evening and have yet to identify the victim.

"The whole neighborhood, I imagine, is upset about it," Jim Leeder said. He lives near the murder scene.

Leeder said he always does his best to raise his neighbor's spirits this time of year, but even he is struggling after what happened on Holly Hill Drive, Sunday.

He noticed numerous investigators in the neighborhood just after 7 p.m. that evening.

A 911 call prompted the investigation:

Dispatcher: Logan County Sheriff's Office?

Caller: He is in this house dead. They said they had never gone into that back bedroom and he is in there in the floor where someone has done something to him.

Dispatcher: Ma'am, from where you are at, can you see if he is still breathing?

Caller: He could see blood when he pulled back something, and so we just ran on out ... he must have been in there dead for days.

The neighbors also told investigators, the victim was last seen on Dec. 2.

They filed a missing persons report, but later let themselves inside the home to see if everything was okay.

"One of the neighbors had a key," Logan County Deputy Chief Richard Stephens said. When they arrived to the scene, investigators searched the property for evidence.

They soon discovered the victim's white 1999 Cadillac Seville was missing from the property near 8300 Holly Hill Drive.

Investigators said they believe the killer is driving the victim's car and said it has some distinguishing characteristics, such as damage to the driver's side mirror, a trailer hitch on the bumper and Oklahoma license plate number 006 LJN.

Neighbors like Jim Leeder said he will definitely be looking for it. "We always keep an eye out around here," said Leeder.

Investigators said the public is asked to call authorities if they spot the stolen car.
