The poll results are in and Oklahoma voters have elected James Lankford to fill the senate seat that opened after former Sen. Tom Coburn announced his retirement back in January.

Lankford received 68 percent of the vote, and defeated Connie Johnson who received 29 percent, and Mark Beard who received three percent.

The senate seat became available after Tom Coburn announced his retirement at the beginning of 2014, leaving two years left on the term. Coburn was elected to the US Senate in 2004 and previously served three terms in the US House of Representatives.
