Freezing Temperatures Possible In Oklahoma Over The Weekend

Posted: Updated:

Quiet but colder weather describes Oklahoma's weather pattern through the weekend before our next storm system arrives early next week.

Wednesday night, expect chilly temperatures around the state. We won't see temperatures as cold as last night, but low to mid 40s will be widespread. Winds will be light out of the south at 5 to 15 mph.

On Thursday a cold front comes blasting through the state, but we won't see any precipitation from it. Instead, expect strong winds from the north at up to 25 mph. Lows Friday morning will stay in the lower 40s, but Saturday morning is a different story.

Saturday morning will be the first freeze for several locations in our viewing area, mainly in northern Oklahoma. Don't expect a hard freeze, but several temperatures will drop to or just below 32. The rest of the state will experience a frost, as temperatures hover 1 to 3 degrees above freezing.

Our next chance of rain comes with a big storm system early next week in the Monday - Tuesday timeframe. Still a lot of details to be worked out, but we're watching it closely.
