The Shawnee Salvation Army says it needs to raise $30,000 to replace a bus that was set on fire earlier this month.

Even after the insurance payment, the Salvation Army is still short $30,000 to replace the 14-passenger bus that would come with special safety features. Right now, the Salvation Army relies on the buses to pick up children from school and bring them to their facility.

“I would have no place from them to go,” said Ann Dickinson, who relies on the afterschool program every day.

“We are relying on the community to support us,” said Capt. Philp Canning, who hopes to raise $30,000 in the next seven days.
