OKLAHOMA CITY -

The driver of that speeding car is one of the two who lost their lives in the accident. Police said they were just taking a friend's new BMW for a spin.

You can see a skid mark where the car hit the curb with some force before it launched into the water.

Friends and family of the two who died visited the pond Friday afternoon to pay their respects.

An overhead look shows how the two streets in this neighborhood dead-end into a man-made pond.

The pond is between 15 and 20 ft. deep and is where 18-year-old Marlin Green and 18-year-old Charlie Huddleston met their tragic fate.

Those who knew them can't believe it.

"And they were both just so funny and so nice to everyone, and they were the most genuine people that you would meet," friend, Taylor Keeney said.

She went to school with both Marlin and Charlie at Putnam City North, and could not believe when she and other classmates heard the news that the two had died late Thursday night.

Marlin was known for making people laugh, and Charlie was known for his music.

"Everyone had respect for his music and him," said friend, Tallon Hull. "He was a good guy, always happy."

"I just don't get how they didn't see the pond," friend, Caitlyn Carr said.

Over at Charlie's home, friends and family gathered to support his grieving mother who still can't believe her son and nephew are gone.

The two were born just one day apart.

"It's just sad that it happened," Jesse Hardy said.

Hardy is Marlin's brother and was also very close to his cousin Charlie.

He said he was with the two just hours before the tragic accident claimed their lives. He said the two didn't know how to swim.

"It's messed up," said Hardy. "Man, my cousin, he had a big future, like he was fixing to get signed as Charlie McFly."

He said Charlie was a well-known rapper locally and had dreams of making it big.

Now, Hardy and his family plan on keeping his music alive, so a piece of him and Marlin will live on.

Funeral arrangements for both Charlie and Marlin are pending

Police said the owner of the car, 21-year-old DeQuantae Devon Colbert, survived the accident.
