Caddo Co. Parents Afraid Missing Teenage Daughter Met A Man Online

The parents of a missing 16-year-old girl said they believe her use of a dating website was to blame for her sudden disappearance.

Alexis Blum was last seen in Caddo County Tuesday around 2 a.m. Her father used a Pike Pass to track her to Mustang.

Alexis left her home in her parents' gray 2004 Toyota Prius, unlicensed and with no driver's permit. What concerned her parents the most, was her recent activity on teen dating websites, and her cell phone history.

“This is very unusual for my daughter,” said father, Joshua Blum.

It's been nearly two days now, and Joshua and Christina Blum said they don't know where to turn.

“Her nightstand was pushed in front of her door, and her bedroom window was open, along with that, her computer, laptop was on her bed,” said Blum.

Alexis was gone, and the homeschooled teen showed little signs that she would leave her hometown of Cement to possibly meet up with a stranger.

“We have middle-of-the-night phone calls and texts. Two or three in the morning, phone calls go on for an hour,” said Alexis' mother, Christina Blum.

That phone history raised red flags for Joshua and Christina, so they took the cell phone.

“We don't have a lead on which way to go. We're just searching any method that we can to possibly figure out where Alexis is,” said Christina.

The website they suspected Alexis of using is MeetMe.com, designed for under aged teen meet ups.

“There's no guarantee that everybody on there is 18 and under,” said Canadian County Undersheriff, Chris West.

West said cases like this are a growing problem, and this "out-of-character" disappearance is yet another wake up call for parents.

“Parents have got to be involved, they've got to supervise. It's not a matter of snooping or not giving them freedom, it's a matter of protecting them,” said West.

Internet crimes against children is something law enforcement takes very seriously.

“I want to know that she's safe wherever she's at,” said Alexis' father, Joshua. “I need some reassurance.”

At last check, Alexis was still missing, and had not attempted to make contact with her parents.
