It's the third day of October, and you've got 28 days left to figure out that Halloween costume. For many parents it often comes down to time or money. If you don't have the time to make one, the average child's costume will cost you about $30.

But there's an option that will save you cash, time and the environment. This week., the Oklahoma City Zoo is hosting its 3rd annual Costume Swap. If you come by the zoo and donate a gently used costume, you will get a ticket to come back on Saturday to pick up a different costume to wear this year.

Zoo officials say 6,200 tons of landfill waste could be avoided if just half the kids in America traded Halloween costumes instead of buying new ones.

The zoo is looking for kids costumes sized from infants to toddlers to extra-large youth. And when you come back on Saturday you'll have loads of costumes to choose from for Halloween 2014.

If you want to donate your costume without swapping, that's an option too for those who just want to support the cause.

You'll get free admission to the zoo if you bring a pumpkin larger than your head. Those pumpkins will be used to decorate the zoo for its Haunt the Zoo event at the end of the month.
