A carjacking suspect crashed the car after leading officers on a chase early Tuesday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.

A carjacking suspect crashed the car after leading officers on a chase early Tuesday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.

It happened just before 1 a.m. According to police, a woman was carjacked when she was sitting in the drive-thru of the McDonald's on N.W. 23rd and Penn. 

The victim said that the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Erik Aguilar, opened her door and told her to get out. The victim said she refused and began to struggle with Aguilar. That's when Aguilar pulled her out of the car and threw her on the ground.

According to police, Aguilar then got into the victim's car and drove away. 

An officer spotted the car and chased Aguilar, who ended up hitting a utility pole at N.W. 23rd and Windsor Place.

Aguilar was taken to the hospital to get checked out before heading to jail. He is facing charges of attempting to elude a police officer, robbery, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. 

Investigators told us the victim suffered minor injuries on her arm.
