OKLAHOMA CITY - Students at Wheeler Elementary here in Oklahoma City, got a big surprise on Friday.

Every child at the school received a brand new pair of shoes from Metro Shoe Warehouse. That's more than 500 pairs.

The Principal says Wheeler has the highest poverty rate in the district, and this donation is huge benefit for them to start the school year.

“We've seen kids jump up and down, they're so excited. Big, huge smiles on their faces. Some of them, it's the first time they've ever gotten a pair of shoes that are in the box,” said Heather Bullock, Wheeler Elementary Principal.

Metro Shoe Warehouse is also donating shoes to four other Oklahoma City schools. In all, they'll give away more than 2,500 pairs of shoes through October.
