Two Earthquakes Shake Up Edmond

A pair of small earthquakes shook near Edmond, Wednesday morning.

The first, a 3.4 magnitude temblor, struck around 11:20 a.m., six miles northeast of Edmond, or about 18 miles northeast of the Oklahoma City metro area, at a depth of about two and a half miles.

The second quake was recorded at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the same location. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured the second quake as a 3.3 magnitude. Its epicenter was slightly deeper, around three miles.

So far, no damages or injuries have been reported.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at 4.0 and higher.
