SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -

A Shawnee mother fought off a suspected carjacker in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Toni Jones said she was putting groceries into her car Monday, when a man came up and tried to pull her away and steal her Buick.

"I was like, 'Hell no, you aren’t taking my car,'" Jones said.

“I hit this guy with all I had,” added Jones. “I don't care if you got a gun. I don't care if you got a knife. You ain't getting my car.”

It would not end well for the suspect at the Homeland grocery store at 2705 N. Harrison in Shawnee.

Jones fought back with the help of her sister, who she went with to the store.

She kept punching the suspect until another customer arrived and put the man in a neck-lock.

Jones was prepared for what came next.

She slapped a pair of handcuffs, she had in her car, on the suspect's wrists and commanded it was a “citizens’ arrest.”

Jones told News 9 she’s kept the handcuffs in her car for years, as a reminder on her late step-father who served as Sheriff’s Deputy.

Daniel Dobson, who was not armed, was arrested for attempted robbery.

He told police he was trying to get to Lake Thunderbird and didn't have a ride.

Jones said the incident is a reminder to everyone to be aware of your surroundings.
